What do dental implants cost and what payment options are available?

When it comes to dental implants, procedures vary greatly, which is why exact costs are impossible to give without patient evaluation. When researching costs, patients must consider various factors that go into the final cost of a new tooth or teeth including:

  • A comprehensive dental exam, including CT scan
  • Extraction of problem teeth, if necessary
  • Bone grafts, if necessary
  • Installation of the dental implant(s)
  • Placement of the abutment hardware over implants
  • Fabrication of the dental crown(s) or all-on-four arch if applicable
  • Placement of the crown(s) or all-on-four arch if applicable

Implants should be viewed as a lifetime investment and are priced accordingly.  Patients replacing more than one tooth next to each other, have more options and more flexible pricing choices (see bridges).  At our practice, a single implant will typically cost between $2,998 and $3,999 over a 12-month period, excluding extractions or bone grafts that may be needed.

Implant-supported dentures are the most cost-effective option whenever full mouth tooth replacement is necessary.  This entails two full arches of false teeth (upper and lower) after any remaining teeth are removed, with each arch anchored to four implants. This option, also known by the trademarked name "All-on-4", typically ranges from $25,996 and $37,996 for a complete set, assuming no extraordinary requirements.

Since the process of dental implantation is a lengthy process spanning 6-9 months, patients often pay the costs over the course of many months. To facilitate payments, our practice offers flexible financing through a variety of dental-financing groups including CareCredit, Proceed Finance, LendingClub and Sunbit.

Does Insurance Cover Dental Implants?
Typically, dental insurers consider implants to be “elective,” and they often do not cover costs associated with them. However, exams, cleanings and extractions are typically covered by most insurers up to whatever the plan's annual maximum is (often, $1,000-2,000 per year) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs), health reimbursement accounts (HRAs) and health savings accounts (HSAs) all cover spending on dental implants.

We are in-network dental providers for Cigna and Delta Dental insurances. We also accept all other PPO dental insurance plans as out of network providers. If your coverage is PPO and it allows out of network providers, we will assist you in the submission of electronic claims each time you visit. Our Financial Coordinator will assist you with inquiries and support the process, but it is primarily your responsibility to know your insurance coverage before your treatment begins.
