Dental Bridge Restorations in Orlando
Affordable alternative for missing teeth
Patients who are missing a tooth and wish to restore it may consider placing a dental implant with an implant crown over it. Alternatively, they may choose to place a dental crown over the two adjacent teeth, forming a bridge that holds a middle tooth over the empty site. There are pros and cons to each alternative and it's important to understand each option fully, before proceeding with treatment.

How do implants compare to bridges?
An implant replaces the tooth at its root. Upon placement, the implant triggers bone regeneration in the surrounding area, restoring foundational stability and preventing further bone loss. Once the implant is considered secure enough by your dentist, a crown will then be screwed on top and sealed into place.
In contrast a dental bridge attaches to the adjacent healthy teeth surrounding a gap to create a bridge across the area. Each tooth on opposite sides of a gap is shaved down to accommodate a bridge and a "cap" is then placed over each tooth and is accompanied by the bridge.
The main advantage of bridges is that they are cost-effective and they don’t require bone grafting if bone loss is present. Since implants require a 6-9 month period to integrate, bridges also offer a quicker process for replacing missing teeth. On the con side, bridges require reduction of the two surrounding teeth and they do nothing to stop the bone loss at the root level.
